Coast Fraser Tower Suite Hotel

The Coast Fraser Tower Suite Hotel is Yellowknife’s premier all suite hotel with beautifully appointed guest rooms, with a selection of one and two bedroom suites, fully equipped kitchens, and picturesque view overlooking the beautiful shores of Great Slave Lake. This historic landmark has hosted some of the world’s most distinguished guests since 1966.

Celebrities, Astronauts, Prime Ministers and members of the Royal Family have all stayed on the upper floors to enjoy the scenic northern landscape and skyscape – there is an unforgettable view of stars, auroras and sundogs through the fall and winter months, and majestic sunrises, sunsets, rainbows and clouds during the spring and summer.

Community Star Award

Coast Fraser Tower in Yellowknife has been the Official Hotel Sponsor of Astronomy North since 2006, and was joined by DeBeers Snap Lake Mine and First Air as the Official Sponsors of Astronomy North during the International Year of Astronomy in 2009.

During the International Year of Astronomy, Coast Fraser Tower contributions supported The Legendary Sky Project, a multi-year education and outreach initiative that will collect and preserve northern sky knowledge and heritage at the community level. This project, along with The AuroraMAX Project, was successfully launched and is now raising northern sky awareness in the Northwest Territories, across Canada and around the world.

One of the most important and generous donations made by the hotel in 2009 enabled the winners of the The Legendary Sky Contest, Raven Firth of Inuvik and Kelsi Taylor of Deline, to stay in Yellowknife before and after embarking on a week-long space camp adventure at the Cosmodome in Montreal.

Through and beyond IYA2009, Coast Fraser Tower assisted Astronomy North in meeting numerous community outreach objectives. At 14 floors, Fraser Tower is one of the tallest buildings in the North and offers an extraordinary view of every horizon, which is why Astronomy North has been hosting community events here since 2006. Skywatching events such as the Yellowknife Sky Café have made Coast Fraser Tower an astronomically friendly meeting place for curious stargazers, aurora fans and photographers of all ages.

In 2007, Astronomy North produced two postcard prints (Print 1, Print 2) for Fraser Tower as a thank you for the outstanding contribution made to northern sky education and outreach. Subsequently, for their continued generosity, a Community Star Award was presented to Coast Fraser Tower Suite Hotel at the opening of The Legendary Sky Exhibit at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre on June 25, 2010.
