ABOUT THIS DATA The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration provides real-time monitoring and forecasting of solar and geophysical events which impact satellites, power grids, communications, navigation, and many other technological systems. NOAA Satellite data is also useful for monitoring the arrival of coronal mass ejections and other space weather events. This data does not necessarily translate into auroras on Earth, rather it provides an indication of the geomagnetic field conditions that are in close proximity to Earth, indicates how the Earth’s magnetic field is responding to incoming solar particles.
